Leadership is not a title or a status—it’s a way of life. Individuals in our region make a difference, every day. This recognition acknowledges their valuable contributions, not only to their company or organization—but the Quad City region as well.

Recipients are nominated and the nomination process is designed to recognize individuals who exceed the expectations of their peers and the community.

Our annual recognition event brings these leaders together, as well as other community members, ultimately building on the strong community spirit of like-minded individuals here in our region.

Great Minds at Work

The Foundation funded many internal grants this week – including one so that BHC engineering club students can participate in the national Rube Goldberg contest – designing a machine using the most complex process to complete a simple task. Sponsored by Purdue University, this year’s contest is to dispense a proper amount of hand sanitizer. Stay tuned to hear how the BHC students do!

Instead of receiving a special trinket for her 40 years of service, one of our fabulous faculty members asked that the College take the money and instead donate it to the Foundation. What a great surprise – and a wonderful idea that will hopefully catch on to others who don’t need a pin or watch or trinket, but want to continue having an impact on our students!

BHC Alum Making Headlines

Lt. John Briggs was named Firefighter of the Year by the Rock Island Fire Dept. He received his paramedic certification from BHC.
Air Force Airman Guillermo Jimenez-Almanza graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, earning distinction as an honor graduate. He earned his associate degree in 2007 from Black Hawk College.
