As a community college, we must be strategic about connecting our transient students to the college. This impacts the overall experience of our students as well as our ability to retain them and move them toward their ultimate goals.
Our Connecting to Students Campaign raises funds to engage students with projects such as an unveiled student union, or simple remodeling of student areas—complete with large screen televisions and ping pong tables. Cultural performances and guest speakers have also been brought in as a method of engaging our students.

Staying up-to-date with technology is a challenge, but a necessity as we teach in this age of technology. To assure our students move into the workplace with viable technology skills, we have to stay with the curve and keep our classrooms up to date for teaching and for learning.
Many contributors appreciate this and allocate their gifts directly toward technology in the classroom.

Black Hawk College has been thinking ‘green’ way before it was the in thing to do. Our students are learning from science professors who walk the talk. Along with student groups such as Clean Sphere, our faculty and staff propose ongoing projects to continually ‘green’ our campus.
A Greening Conference is back on the agenda this spring after a several-year hiatus. This conference offers learning opportunities for our community members to think and live in an environmentally-friendly manner.

As we enter our 6th year of hosting the Quad-Cities Area Leaders Under 40 Recognition Event, we now have more than 165 young leaders in our alumni circle. These leaders are making things happen in our area by leading change in their homes, their workplaces, and their communities.
Recently, they banded together to launch the Alumni Leaders Scholarship. This is an opportunity to give to a fund which will be endowed once the $10,000 is reached, and will ultimately offer a scholarship to a student who demonstrates leadership potential.

The International Student Association provides an opportunity to show your support for international students attending Black Hawk College. Our international students have been a vital part of our student body for years, with many of them remaining in the great Quad Cities area following their studies.
This fund generates small scholarships and assists these students with books, fees, and emergency funds.
